Audio books have been available since the 1930's, mainly for tutorial/classroom purposes. Spoken books have really gained popularity as a form of entertainment over the past 30 years.Good news for commuters, non readers, and those who multitask. You can do housework, drive, exercise...while listening.Simply download an audio book to your electronic device, or pop a Cd in your music player or car player and you're good to go!
The addition of music to audio-books truly enhances the experience. A piece of music can set the tone at the beginning of a tale, and end it on a positive note. Have you ever heard a song and envisioned a scene, heard certain lyrics which brought a character or person to mind? Or vice- versa : read a tale which evoked a particular mood, one which stirred the need to blast some rock& roll, or escape onto soaring instrumental?
Books and music can affect a wide variety of sensors and affect mood, depending on what genre you choose. They can evoke wistfulness, pleasure, sadness, even fear. Both books and music have been touted as addictive, evident in the enormous sales of both entertainment sources.
